About MS-DOS 6.22
MS-DOS 6.22, released by Microsoft in 1994, was the final standalone version of the MS-DOS operating system before Windows 95 integrated it more closely. This version included several enhanced features such as improved disk compression with DoubleSpace, enhanced memory management with MemMaker, and tools for disk defragmentation and anti-virus protection. Widely used in the early 1990s, MS-DOS 6.22 was pivotal in providing a stable, reliable environment for both business and personal computing before the widespread adoption of graphical user interfaces.
About Windows For Workgroups 3.11
Windows for Workgroups 3.11, released by Microsoft in 1993, was an enhanced version of Windows 3.1 that included built-in networking capabilities. It allowed for peer-to-peer networking, enabling users to share files and printers without the need for a dedicated server. This version also introduced support for 32-bit file access and improved performance. Windows for Workgroups 3.11 was significant in laying the groundwork for later, more advanced networked operating systems, making it easier for small businesses and home users to connect and share resources.

Which Hardware Should You Use?
To embark on this retro computing adventure, you'll need to acquire an older computer. For instance, I'm using a classic Packard Bell Multimedia M400 with these specs: • Pentium 166 MHZ Processor• 80 MB System Memory• S3 Trio765 800x600 16.7M colors 64-Bit with 2MB EDO Video Memory•2 GB IDE Hard Drive• ASOUND GOLD ALS120 ISA Sound Card•3Com 3C905C-TX-M 10/100Mbps Etherlink PCI•1.44 MB Floppy Drive•CD-RW Drive •(All of the software on this website has been tested on this machine.)You'll require a floppy disk drive, a CD-RW drive, and ports for a PS/2 mouse and keyboard, or their equivalents. I recommend a 2 GB hard drive, as MS-DOS relies on the FAT16 file system, which only supports up to a 2 GB partition. If you opt for a larger hard drive, ensure your partitions are no bigger than 2 GB each. Remember, USB support didn't come along until Windows 95, so stick with PS/2 peripherals for compatibility. Many folks have these old treasures tucked away in their basements, or you can find them at a reasonable price on eBay. Legacy hardware, including sound and network cards compatible with Windows 3.11, is also available from various online sources, like eBay.Additionally, you'll need a newer PC equipped with a floppy disk drive to create the installation disks and a CD-RW drive to produce ISO disk images.
